Emergency Electrician Call-Outs
Lost power, a burning smell or exposed live wiring — we prioritise emergency call-outs over booked work and get to you across Dublin.
What an emergency call-out actually involves
An emergency call-out is about making the installation safe first and fixing it second. When we arrive we establish what's live, what's isolated and whether anything needs to come off supply straight away — a scorched socket, a consumer unit that smells hot, water into a light fitting, a cable damaged by a nail or a drill. Once the immediate risk is dealt with, we work out the repair.
The calls we get most are total loss of power, a breaker or RCD that won't stay in, a burning or fishy smell near a board or socket, sparking switches, and damage after a leak. Some of those are a genuine same-visit fix — a failed accessory, a faulty appliance, a loose neutral. Others need the circuit isolated safely, the rest of the house put back on, and a return visit to finish the repair properly. We tell you which one you're looking at before we start, not after.
We're based in Ballybrack and Shankill and cover Dublin city and county, so response time depends on where you are and what else is live at the time. If it isn't actually an emergency we'll say that on the phone and book you in instead — that's cheaper for you than a call-out charge for something that can wait until Tuesday.

- Honest triage on the phone — emergency visit or booked appointment
- Repair on the day where it's safe and possible to do so
- Rest of the installation restored, not left dead
- Plain explanation of what failed and why
Common questions
- What counts as an electrical emergency?
- Burning smells, scorch marks, smoke, sparking, exposed or damaged live cable, water into electrics, or a total loss of power you can't restore at the board. Anything you can safely leave switched off until the morning usually isn't an emergency — ring us and we'll tell you straight.
- Should I turn anything off before you arrive?
- If there's a smell of burning or visible damage, switch off the main switch at the consumer unit if you can reach it safely, and leave it off. Don't keep resetting a breaker that's tripping repeatedly — it's tripping for a reason.
- How quickly can you get here?
- It depends on where you are in Dublin and what we're already on. Emergency call-outs are prioritised over booked work, and we'll give you a realistic time on the phone rather than a made-up one.
- Will it be fixed in one visit?
- Often yes. Where a part needs ordering or the repair is bigger than the fault, we make the installation safe, restore everything we can, and come back to finish it — so you're never left without power over a part we don't have on the van.
