What circuit and distribution board work actually involves
This is the work that sits between a small repair and a full rewire: a dedicated circuit for a hot tub, a garden office or a workshop, a sub-board in a converted garage or attic, a heavier supply for an electric shower or a range cooker, or splitting an overloaded ring that's been extended one too many times.
Every one of those starts with the same question, what capacity is actually available at the board and at the incoming supply. We check the main fuse rating, existing load, earthing arrangement and available ways in the board before quoting, and size cable for the route and the load rather than to whatever's on the van. An outbuilding run gets armoured cable, its own local isolation and a sub-board so the building can be worked on without killing the house.
